Fostering relationships with artisans in Mexico, Tula ensures fair wages and safe working conditions while providing an avenue to continue their 400 year old tradition of high-quality, handcrafted palm hats.

Made of 100% natural palm fiber, Tula hats are naturally water resistant in addition to sustainable and environmentally friendly. Their unique overlapping layers of braided and sewn palm fibers give Tula hats the highest solar protection (UPF – Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rating on the market of 50+. Rigorously tested by California Polytechnic State University, Tula was actually commended for their excellent solar protection by the University: “The brim area of these hats is excellent, in fact, we have never tested anything with 0% transmittance. Congratulations on this protection!” 

Featuring an extra wide brim along with a classic lifeguard hat crown (aka cattleman crown), the Lifeguard Palm Straw Hat by Tula is designed for long periods spent in the sun. Its natural palm straw fibers breathe while also providing the highest UPF 50+ solar protection and natural water resistance. An adjustable chincord ensures the hat stays on your head even during strong winds or activity.
